CTV National News on Movie Camcording

On the day the MPAA reported record revenues in 2006, the CTV National News featured a story (video here) on the U.S. pressure on movie piracy.  The story included a brief interview with U.S. ambassador David Wilkins along with a short response from me and a comment from an RCMP officer indicating that law enforcement prioritizes health and safety issues, not movie camcording.

Glad to see that our law enforcement officers acknowledge that they have more important things to spend their valuable time on than doing Hollywoods mafia-esque dirty work.

A slight tangent but CTV is yet another all Microsoft site that shuts out Mac and Linux machines…. I wanted to view the video but do not have the most recent version of Media Player. M$ keeps the mac people a few versions behind.

Not just Mac and Linux machines, Firefox 2 on Windows doesn’t seem to be working either.

Well, yes and no. If you view the source and grab the URL from the embedded player, you can stream it in VLC, which works on pretty well every conceivable platform.

Of course, the lay-user isn\’t going to know to do this, so you still have a point.

    Worked for me.
