Groups Raise Counterfeiting Fears
Several groups, led by the Canadian Anti-Counterfeiting Network, held a press conference yesterday to trumpet concerns associated with counterfeiting. The article notes that the RCMP will no longer commit to a specific counterfeiting figure, but believes that the cost is in the billions.
Facebook Seeks Court Order For Canadian ISP Customer Info
The National Post reports that Facebook has asked a Canadian court to order Rogers and Look Communications to disclose customer information related to alleged attempted thefts of personal information on the social networking site.
SCC to Make Factums Available Online
Simon Fodden reports from the LexUM Conference (I'm there too) that Supreme Court of Canada Justice Michel Bastarache just informed the conference that the Court is committed to providing factums online beginning with a series of test cases next year.
Booker Prize Nominee Digitization Plans
The Telegraph reports that there are negotiations underway to digitize all six nominees for the Booker Man Prize. The move would make the books widely available worldwide. How about something similar for Giller or Governor General nominees?
