I’m just someone who reads Michael’s blog like you. I have 2 children learning musical instruments and I also buy and listen to a lot of music.
This new proposed law will do nothing new to protect the rights of artists. There are very few artists who have spoken out in favour of the new law and many who have expressed concerns.
This law is what the American music industry demanded that their government extract from our government in return for a few trade concessions.
It has nothing to do with the hard-working entrepreneurial artist and everything to do with extending the grasp of capitalists and lawyers into every niche of our lives.
I expect you have taped a tv show and kept it in case you’d watch it again. Criminal.
Read all the other things you consider normal that will be outlawed and then say whether you can support Bill C-61

I r a criminal?
So if i bypass a drm(No cd crack) on one of the games i payed for and have the right play without a damn CD wearing out my cd rom and the disc, which i will need if i ever need to reinstall it or install it at a friends house or new PC? I should have to fear a 200k fine because some old people in parliament have no clue about how a pc or software even work?
Based on how knowledgeable that french lady and prentice where on the subject, i would guess that the MPs that support this bill are the kind of people that have to get their kids to open their emails… Or do anything with a PC.
It will sure be funny when one of the MPs ends up on the hook for copyright violations their kids or someone for downloading stuff on their PCs(or having open wireless). But hey they don’t have to work all that hard, so i guess they can just sit around and monitor their kids every move online forever.
Or they could not be r-tards and let the bill pass.
