The CRTC has filed its first two notices of violation under the do-not-call list.  The Commission says that it will not name the two companies if they pay the applicable fine.

Pay or not they should be listed
It should not matter if they pay the fines. If they violated the do-not-call list rules then they should be publicly listed as violators. One reason is that the public knows who they are and can try to avoid using their services. Second reason is that companies wanting to use their services would be aware of their prior activities.

Failing to identify fails to prove anyone was fined
There is a principle that the administration of justice
be done in public. Failing to do so “places the
administration of justice in disrepute” (with apologies
to J. Lamer, R vs Collins)

    ITS ABOUT TIME
WHAT IS THE POINT IF CRTC DO NOT ENFORCE THE DO NOT CALL …… WHILE SO MANY PEOPLE LIKE US HAVE REGISTER OUR PHONE NUMBERS…ITS A WASTE OF MONEY…..ALSO CRTC SHOULD NOT SELL THE LIST TO ANYONE WHO IS PREPARE TO PAY FOR IT…..IS IT A WAY FOR CRTC TO MAKE MORE MONEY AND IGNORE THE PEOPLE WHO IS BEING USE AS A MEANS FOR MORE DOLLARS……………..ITS A SHAME…

I wonder if this is why I got a threatening phone call.
I received a call today from someone who said “stop filing complaints with the national do not call list… or else” must have be from one of the companies that finally go fined. My phone company could not immediately trace the number it came from but they are “investigating” and the police do not consider what was said to be a threat. I will continue to file for every violation but what I really wonder is how they know I filed a complaint against them.
