Del Mastro Says Bill C-32 Coming Back Intact

Consistent with the Conservative campaign platform, MP Dean Del Mastro tells the Toronto Sun that Bill C-32 will be reintroduced largely intact.

    And did the Sun…
ask why they insist on consistently going against Canadian public opinion for the benefit of American corporations? No? I didn’t think so. “I didn’t hear a lot that was overly critical of the bill,” Del Mastro said, noting he felt many critics simply misunderstood elements of the complex bill.

Ah, so it’s not that the bill bends over for the US content lobby, no siree. It’s just that us dumb Canucks can’t understand their wonderful bill. What an arrogant little pr*ck. And for him to claim that he didn’t hear much in the way of complaints, I have to wonder if he tried. There was a LOT of ink on this issue over the years. His bogus claims of no problems heard is a lie meant to marginalize those who take issue with the bill. I was afraid that this was going to happen the second they got their majority.

  2. SHOCKER!!!

  3. “I didn’t hear a lot that was overly critical of the bill,” said Del Mastro.
    Really? 0_o

What happened to the talk of a government office that would be tasked with overseeing Canada’s digital issues in broader perspective? That leaves us with the same offices of Heritage and Industry for guidance.

Moore is still in the Heritage office so no great expectations of a change in thinking there.

Quebec lieutenant Christian Paradis is moving to the Industry Department. A lawyer by profession, Paradis has a legal practice in Thetford Mines where he also served as president of the chamber of commerce. He is a graduate of the Université de Sherbrooke and has a masters degree in corporate law from Université Laval.

Hmmm, president of the chamber of congress. Same old I suppose.

I think it’s time to get down on our knees, bend over and … pray.

  4. It sounds to me like Del Maestro was saying the bill was flawed but fixable.

    Wakey wakey.

Liar, liar, liar that’s all I can say
“I didn’t hear a lot that was overly critical of the bill,” said Del Mastro.

They had the biggest response of any consultation this government has ever had, and it was almost ALL negative!!!

He’s lied to us big time, as MG has found out at the link below. (No facts to support his Bill so he fabricates an elaborate and completely false story! He should be fired!)

Thank you Michael for digging this up, now keep it up, you’ve got a lot of work to do!

  6. In typical Canadian fashion, the complaints about it will likely come in large when it’s about to pass and it’s about to affect everyone, just like UBB. Conservative politics that bend over to the US and ignorant voters will drag this country down so far I wonder if we’ll ever recover.

  7. “You don’t stand in the way of the good to enact the perfect”

What is that even supposed to mean? I read it as extremely narcissistic.

“I didn’t hear a lot that was overly critical of the bill,” Del Mastro said, noting he felt many critics simply misunderstood elements of the complex bill.

Really? REALLY? So, I guess the dumb-a$$ conservatives know more than all the user groups, organizations, academics and all 3 opposition parties that very vocally opposed sections of this bill. Collectively this accounts for millions of Canadians and not one of them understood the bill eh? Again, self serving and narcissistic. Sounds like he’s towing the US media lobby line as well. Oh well, at least I’m not surprised since it’s exactly what I expected to happen. Never underestimate the power of corporate money.

So along with the most expensive and and some of the more limited Internet services in the developed world, we’re going to have among the most strict copyright laws in the world, while at the same time, the US, UK, Ireland and the EU as a whole have been looking at relaxing IP regulations. Way to go “cons”, you show the rest of the world just how incompetent Canada really is!!!

  8. Crockett says:

Sounds like he’s towing the US media lobby line as well.
Uh, yeah … and bears crap in the forest. The cons have got what they needed from the Canadian public, a voted majority. Now, sit back, relax and enjoy your rights sold to the highest bidder.

And John, it’s good to know ‘we’ are not the only conspiracy theory aficionados.

  9. Crockett says:

All in the name of corporate profits …
Speaking of individual rights that some people are so fond of protecting … let’s just suspend those for our shareholders shall we?

  10. Bytowner says:

    No thank you
If this is in fact cover for RIAA/CRIA want list fulfillment…it’s as unwelcome as before.

  11. One eyed man in the land of the blind. says:

    Oh, this D-Bag again.
This is the same Del Maestro that tried to give public park and public works land over to private waterfront development here in Peterborough, ON.
The plan was to include an IMAX, conference center, shopping and condos with dock and ‘beach access’ (aka, shutting down a public beach). This was intended in his plan to revitalize the downtown core…. which is on the opposite side of the lake.

Then pushing for road improvements to be done by private firms, all of which are months, or even years behind schedule.

If somebody ran a business like the conservatives run government, they’d not only be out of business, they’d likely be in jail for defrauding shareholders.

Such a pity we are not able to hold these donkeys responsible for their election promises; more so that we have a fictitious majority. 40% of Canadian participants voted for these people. 60% did not.

  12. I hope so, because in xlpharmacy people say that this is a lie and no one cares because of that, but who knows, maybe will be truth.
