Spain’s Performing Rights Organization Raided By Anti-Corruption Police

The General Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE), Spain’s performing rights organization (SOCAN equivalent), was raided late last week by anti-corruption police as part of an investigation into embezzlement and misappropriation.

    I questioned the distribution of money collected by the CPCC once and got back a letter that said (in a nutshell), “It’s not our place to decide who can do what with the money, only collect it.”

    My MP (well, assistant to the assistant of the dogwalker of the MP) said the same thing regarding the government when I forwarded the letter for an opinion.
