About time!
It's about time someone has started doing something about these people. I've gotten these for several years from "Domain Registry of Canada (they have one for America too)" and their predecessor name (same company) "Internet Registry of Canada". The latest was this month prompting my article on Domain Slamming [ link ]

While all companies are to a certain extent predacious this type of behaviour is unacceptable ethically, in my opinion, even if technically legal. In the case of the "Domain Registry of XXXXXX" they apparently are real registrars but they charge many times what you'd pay elsewhere (except Network Solutions).
