The Toronto Star reports that police seized more than 200,000 illegal DVDs in three GTA malls in a series of raids that began in October.

This is an error, right? It was the RCMP, the OPP, or the Markam Police (if it exists) that did the actual seizing and not a presumably, private organization, right? |

It was the rights holders who seized not the police Jim, you are correct, the CMPDA seized these DVD's not the police. They did it using several techniques, but mostly using civil powers of seizure. There are currently laws that allow an IP rights holder to seize their counterfeited property from teh counterfeiters. Hope this helps |
