The political importance of Internet rights became apparent yet again today as the European Parliament rejected the entire Telecoms Package due to support for access to the Internet as a fundamental right (see also here and here). That amendment is a direct challenge to the three strikes approach (ie. graduated response) and indicates that the EP is prepared to do what it can to stop such systems from being adopted in Europe.
