Selection Criteria I see *I* qualify under one of the criteria: The successful candidate must be a Canadian citizen under the terms of the Citizenship Act, or a permanent resident as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; Of course, if Prof. Geist is interested in the appointment, I'll refrain from entering the fray... |
... They could save a lot of money in salary by just getting rid of the position all together. Make all the really big decisions by flipping a coin instead. They'd only make the right decision half the time, but that would be a magnitude improvement over the incumbent. |
... +1 for Geist applying. Is there anyone better suited for this job in the country? Get in the mix, Michael! |
-- Micheal Geist would be ideal for the position, but the position effectively puts the successful applicant on a government leash, even though the CRTC is meant to operate "at arms length". I think he does more good in the wild, this blog being just a small example. I actually believe the whole process is probably just a case of making applicants jump through hoops to put on a show. I find it hard to imagine that the Harper Government has not already picked an unqualified, but fully bilingual candidate from its collection of media friends. |

New CRTC Chair I think Harper is only concerned if the chair can speak English. |
