Wired reports that Apple has rejected a BitTorrent iPhone application. Apple says "this category of applications is often used for the purpose of infringing third-party rights. We have chosen to not publish this type of application to the App Store."

Apple makes products used for illegal purposes, duh!
Apple pulls out the lamest reason ever. So what else is new?
If everything that COULD be used for illegal purposes was withdrawn, then we wouldn’t be allowed to use the phone (can be used to arrange drug deals), drive on the roads (used to transport stolen goods), etc.
You can use the iPhone’s Safari browser to access all kinds of sites with illegal content, like kiddie porn. So why is Safari a standard install on the iPhone? Oh, right, Apple exempts themselves.
Surely, His Steveness knows that Apple computers are used to create, upload, and download kiddie porn. People use Apple’s Mail program to arrange drug deals. They use Apple’s iChat to transmit pornographic videos to other people. How can he sleep at night knowing his products are used for illegal purposes.
Just close the company down, Steve. You can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.
