Apple To Extend iTunes Music Previews to 90 Seconds

Apple is extending the length of iTunes music previews from 30 seconds to 90 seconds for songs longer than 2 minutes and 30 seconds.  It appears that the extension is a take it or leave proposition to music labels.

Great news for creators and consumers!
This is great news. I buy my music almost exclusively from iTunes. Usually I’ll listen fully to prospective purchases by searching for them on YouTube, but on the off chance they aren’t available there, I occasionally have to rely on just the preview to decide whether I’ll make the purchase. For longer songs, the preview might not be representative of the track, so I’m glad Apple wants to extend it. I want to support artists by downloading my songs legally, and letting me do “research” like this is a great way to help me help them.
