This is a blatant attempt to try to distance itself (At least by name) from the RIAA and MPAA and get away from the stigma it’s given itself over the last few years. Too little too late. The proof is in the putting, so to speak.
Ironically, the CMPDA has changed its name to MPAC (Motion Picture Association – Canada), which is closser to their MPAA counterpart’s name in the states.
