The Hidden Gag Order in Bill C-30

David Fraser has an excellent post on how Bill C-30 imposes a gag order on Internet providers who would be prohibited from disclosing disclosures of subscriber information to affected subscribers.

  2. Doesn’t the RCMP have to inform you if they tapped your phone? Kinda strange to gag the ISP but I guess that’s to stop someone from changing ISP’s or leasing new IP’s which would halt the investigation.

    Have a look at PIPEDA , section 4.1 1). If I read it correctly, PIPEDA also allows for this.
