Election Questions

While Sam Bulte provides some election answers, the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada has posed a series of new questions to the political parties.  I must admit that I find the questions incredibly disappointing.  The AUCC chose to ask essentially the same question in nine different ways.  That question – how much are you prepared to spend on higher education?

Now that is an important question and I' m glad that the AUCC is putting the funding issue on the national agenda.  But it cannot be the only question.  The education community must also use its position to focus on copyright reform, open access, the use of technology for distance education, digital libraries, and countless other issues that strike at the heart of teaching and research at universities across the country.  The failure to raise even one of these issues is embarrassing.
