Bill C-60 User Guide: The ISPs and Search Engines
Bill C-60 makes for a challenging read since it adds, replaces, or amends existing Copyright Act provisions. There will no doubt be much discussion and debate around the bill in the coming months, but I thought it might be useful to provide a short users guide on the key provisions categorized by issue.
Canada Introduces New Copyright Bill
As expected, this afternoon the federal government introduced its copyright reform bill (UPDATE: Bill C-60 is now available online). In this age of instant analysis, new legislation does not work particularly well since it requires considerable study and scrutiny to develop a full sense of its implications.
Copyright Reform Bill Coming Monday
It has taken some time, but it appears that the Canadian government is now ready to introduce its copyright reform bill. The bill, which is being introduced by the Minister of Canadian Heritage, has been placed on the Order Paper for Monday, June 20th.
