New Industry Minister Jim Prentice has told the Canadian Press that the planned spectrum auction is on track for this fall. Prentice emphasized the need to consider both consumer and corporate interests, stating that "this will involve the balancing of the interests of consumers in ensuring they have good quality cellular coverage and at competitive prices – and prices which are comparable to what other industrial democracies are achieving – plus balancing the interests of marketplace participants who have currently invested in the industry and the new marketplace participants."
