The EFF comments on Microsoft's decision to stop retreiving license keys for music that people have purchased starting August 31st. After that date, consumers that buy a new computer or upgrade their operating system will be forced to leave their music behind.

Hadn’t heard about this
At least I hadn’t seen any postings at the mainstream news websites that I check on this. Sounds like Microsoft is taking the “rent” business model to heart. This should give them the idea that, 6 months after they pull XP from the shelves, they stop issuing new registrations to XP re-installs… Forcing the customers to upgrade to Vista.
