Montreal Board of Trade Demands Removal of iPhone App

The Montreal Gazette reports that Stationnement de Montréal, a subsidiary of the Montreal Board of Trade, has demanded the removal of an iPhone application that pinpoints where Bixi bikes, public-use bikes, are available in the city.  The Board cites trademark rights in the name Bixi.

Apple Rejects iPhone BitTorrent App

Wired reports that Apple has rejected a BitTorrent iPhone application.  Apple says "this category of applications is often used for the purpose of infringing third-party rights. We have chosen to not publish this type of application to the App Store."

Apple Claims Unlocking iPhone Violates the DMCA

Apple has filed a response to the U.S. Copyright Office's review of the DMCA exceptions that argues that unlocking the iPhone infringes copyright and violates the DMCA.  The applicability of anti-circumvention legislation to cellphone unlocking was a major issue under Bill C-61.
