I think you’re wrong about Moore’s attitude
Michael,
Near the end of the interview, you said that you believe that Moore’s attitude and comments are hurting him – I believe you’re wrong about that.
I think Moore knows that Harper’s government is on the way out, and he’s been promised a big reward from “someone” should he get Bill C32 passed. Look at what happened in the UK with the Digital Economy Act – forced through without debate hours before Parliament dissolved for an election. Why would a government pass such unpopular and harmful legislation in such a way if they had nothing to gain?
I fear we’re seeing the same thing played out here.
Moore, it seems, doesn’t care what Canadians think. His intractability with regards to the DRM provisions show that the only thing he cares about are the approval of media conglomerates. As such, anything he says to further endear him to the likes of the CRIA and MPAA will help him once he’s voted out.
